While Holmes investigates a spate of violent crimes, Watson attends a demonstration by a foreign scientist. However, lurking in the thickening London fog is a horror more ancient and terrible than they can imagine.
Holmes’s role as a consulting detective is highlighted in a new collection, which includes my story The Lighthouse Mystery, set on the island of Jersey.
At high tide, the lighthouse at La Corbière on the Channel Island of Jersey is completely cut off from the rest of the island. So how did one of the keepers disappear while the causeway was covered, and can Sherlock Holmes solve the case without even seeing the scene of the crime?
