The terror of Jack the Ripper is still fresh in people’s minds in January 1889. In The Case of the Penny Dreadfuls, Holmes and Watson are called back to Whitechapel, but instead of the Ripper, they find the body of an author. It would appear that Mr. Doyle has written his last adventure for Sherlock Holmes!

Then, in November 1890, it’s the officers of the law who are in the spotlight in The Great Scotland Yard Mystery. The move down to the Embankment and the building known as New Scotland Yard is almost complete. However, Inspector Gregson has one more case to solve before he can leave the old headquarters behind, when he discovers a body in the basement.
