Deep Waters
Sherlock Holmes in The Adventure of the Speckled Band by Sir Arthur Conan DoyleThese are very deep waters…

The tales of H.P. Lovecraft are full of ancient, indescribable horrors, but just as unsettling are the creatures that are almost human, such as those discovered by Holmes and Watson in my latest story, The Freak Show of the Deep.
It is just one of the tales of mystery and madness that can be found in The Necronomicon of Sherlock Holmes, the latest two volume collection of stories from Belanger Books that pits Sherlock Holmes against the most terrifying Lovecraftian horrors.
In my previous visit to Lovecraft’s realms, The Case of the London Particular, Holmes and Watson faced nebulous horrors hiding in the fog. However, this time they investigate a more tangible mystery. Victorian freak shows displayed all manner of strange creatures. Some were crude fakes, others were real people born with unfortunate deformities. But what manner of creature is imprisoned in The Travelling Aquarium of Dr. Blake, and can Sherlock Holmes help them?
You can be among the first to read The Freakshow of the Deep by pre-ordering The Necronomicon of Sherlock Holmes on Kickstarter now, and there is also the opportunity to add the previous collections pitting Holmes against Lovecraft’s horrors, Sherlock Holmes: Adventures in the Realms of H.P. Lovecraft to your pledge. The campaign can be found at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1606726313/the-necronomicon-of-sherlock-holmes and is running until Monday 13 October 2025.
