The Master in Doctor Who: Frontier in Space by Malcolm Hulke
Nobody could be more devoted to the cause of peace than I!
I revisit the classic 1973 Doctor Who story Frontier in Space in Peacemaker, my new story for the charity anthology Master Switches from Altrix Books. The collection features the Doctor’s nemesis, the Master, and pairs their various incarnations with versions of the Doctor that they didn’t meet on television.
While I have written stories set in the spin-off world of the City of Saved, this is my first time writing a story featuring the Doctor himself. I am delighted to be part of this great anthology, which takes the familiar characters of the Doctor and the Master and makes us look at them in new and exciting ways.
Peacemaker is set in an alternative universe where the original Master, as played by Roger Delgado, faces not Jon Pertwee’s flamboyant Third Doctor, but Sylvester McCoy’s manipulative Seventh Doctor. I was keen to have these scheming incarnations of the two Time Lords face each other, and the impending intergalactic war between Earth and Draconia in Malcolm Hulke’s story seemed like the perfect setting.
If you would like to find out more about my story, you can find an interview with me on the Altrix Books website, along with interviews by many of the other contributors.
Master Switches is an unofficial Doctor Who anthology, raising money for the Stroke Association, and will only be available for a very limited time. You can order it in Paperback and Kindle editions from Amazon, now.
