Round Midnight
Faustus in Dr. Faustus by Christopher MarloweThe stars move still, time runs, the clock will strike,
The devil will come, and Faustus must be damn’d.

A jazz trumpeter makes a midnight deal with a mysterious masked man in my new short story, Body and Soul, which is released today. It features the time-travelling cult known as Faction Paradox, who were created by Lawrence Miles as part of the Doctor Who books range in the 1990s. However, it was not long before they span off into their universe of adventures, which includes the City of the Saved, setting of my stories The Smallest Spark and Riding Shotgun on a Stage from Grief.
My story is part of the first collection about The Boulevard, an infinitely long avenue, built from a million streets, and repurposed as a prison by Faction Paradox. However, prison is not the only torture facing those who cross the Faction’s path.
The collection is published by Obverse Books, and it has been a pleasure to be working once again with editor Stuart Douglas, who published my first story The Witchfinder. You can order Faction Paradox: The Boulevard: Volume 1 directly from the Obverse Books website at https://obversebooks.co.uk/product/faction-paradox-the-boulevard-volume-one/. A limited hardback print run will be followed by ebook and paperback editions.
